On January 31, 2017, I was honored to speak at an Ohio State Bar Association CLE, “QDRO Best Practices: Why a Properly Drafted Separation Agreement is Critical.” As the only presenter and course designer, I had the opportunity to tailor a program that I believed would help practicing divorce lawyers avoid potential pitfalls when it comes to properly dividing a retirement asset. The QDRO CLE, “QDRO Best Practices: Why a Properly Drafted Separation Agreement is Critical” may be viewed at the following link: https://yourosba.ohiobar.org/product/26394.
On March 13, 2017, I was honored to speak at the Columbus Bar Association’s Family Law Committee March meeting. The discussion with fellow Family Law Committee members centered on everything QDRO related, including the new federal law freezing a military former spouse’s benefit as of the date of the court order.
On May 4, 2017, I presented at the Ohio Association for Justice's Annual Convention. The title of my presentation was "QDRO Best Practices: Addressing Critical Issues Prior to Final Hearing."
On May 9, 2017, I presented at NBI's two-day Complex Assets in Divorce seminar. During my presentation on "QDROs and Complex Retirement Plans," I addressed defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, state and federal plans, military pensions, and numerous potential pitfalls to adderss in each.
